13 dead in China mine blast

A coal mine gas explosion left 13 people dead in southwest China, authorities said Saturday.

The blast took place at 1.20 p.m. Friday at Diaoyutai Coal Mine in Sichuan province, Xinhua reported. Four of the eight injured were in critical condition and one person was missing. Search and rescue work was on Saturday.
