ASUNCION, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Uncapped Porto goalkeeper Angel Gonzalez has been named in Paraguay's squad for World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Brazil, the Paraguayan Football Association said on Friday.
The 18-year-old's inclusion comes despite his lack of regular first-team football for the Portuguese giants, whom he joined from Libertad on a 12-month loan last July.
As expected, head coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto included Newcastle United midfielder Miguel Almiron and Palmeiras defender Gustavo Gomez in his 22-man squad.
Paraguay will play Uruguay in Asuncion on January 27 and Brazil in Belo Horizonte five days later.
The Guaranies are currently ninth in the 10-team South American qualifying standings with four match days remaining.
The top four teams will secure an automatic place in football's showpiece tournament, to be played in Qatar later this year. The fifth-ranked side will advance to an intercontinental playoff.
