This June, Tencent E-sports officially launched the “Empower Esports Worldwide Series”, aiming to work with industry partners to explore effective paths and possibilities for global development; actively go global in the new identity of “a bridge linking domestic and international esports ecosystems and exchanges”, continuously facilitating the connection and open communication between China esports and the world, adapting to the new pattern and reshape our capabilities and further contributing to the development of the global esports industry. In August, Tencent E-sports, together with China’s esports ecosystem partners, embarked on a journey to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and discussed a series of main topics with representatives from the EWCF Esports World Cup Foundation, the Qiddiya City project, and local and globally-renowned clubs in Saudi Arabia.
At 2 pm on October 25, 2024, 2025 EWC Esports World Cup China Exchange took place at the Bellagio Shanghai. Leveraging the new identity as “a bridge linking domestic and international esports ecosystems”, Tencent E-sports discussed industry cooperation and development with about 70 enterprises from home and abroad during the EWCF team's visit to China.
Gu Sijia, Director of Tencent Interactive Entertainment’s Esports Business Department and Head of the Business Center and Event Center, noted in her address that this China exchange is an important opportunity to showcase the strength and potential of China’s esports industry to all sectors in Saudi Arabia and at home and abroad, at the same time, it is also an excellent platform for seeking cooperation and common development; Tencent E-sports will make every effort to help EWCF better understand the development of China’s esports ecosystem and expand its eco-partners. In the meantime, we will actively promote the integration of China's esports ecosystem with the international stage, continue to promote the implementation of in-depth exchanges and cooperation, and improve the popularity and influence of China's esports and its ecosystem based on the goal of promoting more connections between the domestic esports ecosystem and EWC.
During the exchange, Mohammed, Senior Sales Director of EWCF, introduced the overall development of Saudi Arabia’s esports industry, remarking that Saudi Arabia is presenting a more modern, open, and inclusive national image through esports. The young population structure has always been a trump card for Saudi Arabia to improve its national image. In this year’s EWC, Asian teams, especially those from China, have shown standing strength. Esports fans from all over the world have flocked to Riyadh to support them. In Riyadh, there are also many fans for Chinese clubs and players, cheering for their excellent performances on the spot, which added more vitality to EWC and Saudi Arabia. It is a pleasure to witness such a scene.
Francois, Head of Sponsorship Business of EWCF, summarized the achievements of 2024 EWC Gaming World Cup, whether in the number of participating game projects, club player lineups, or tournament dissemination data and the number of offline spectators, it has made many historical breakthroughs, even globally, it has been well received around the world. He also mentioned that 2025 EWC will be upgraded in an all-round way, with higher bonus incentives, richer game projects and better esports venues, not only accommodate more spectators, but also better meet the watching experience, and it will more focus on the promotion of the Chinese market, looking forward to expanding the influence of the EWC in China through online and offline channels, and meeting the site demands of more Chinese esports enthusiasts.
